Parnassia Group

The Parnassia Group is experiencing strong growth via mergers, with the aim of increasing operations and realising further advantages. This gives one an improved negotiating position towards the government and insurers, and an improved competitive position towards other GGZ (Mental Health Care) and RIAGG (Regional Institute for Mental Welfare) organisations. Care financing is always a key area of interest - the introduction of costing via DTC’s requires a different approach than AWBZ (Exceptional Medical Expenses Act) and CTG (Health Care Charges Board) financing. One must think in terms of products rather than just hours, and it is important that the compensation issued for a DTC covers the treatment in question.

Further, politicians also regularly focus on the Parnassia Group, which manifests itself in questions about waiting lists and the need to make them as short as possible. There are also more questions about the social benefit of the treatments in question. This concerns delivered quality, in terms of reduced complaints, as well as the time taken to realise the improvement.

Parnassia databases were very difficult to establish because the application's data model centres around data processing and not information provision. The applications at the Parnassia Group include Psygis, SAP, Exact and Beaufort, which contain the required overviews in the shape of reports - even though they may have their limitations. The structure, speed, grouping, calculations or fields included by such reports are not always usable. This project was performed jointly with Progress Software.
By using a Progress data warehouse and CorVu as a Business Intelligence tool, there is now improved control of information management.

About the Parnassia Group
The Parnassia Group is a psycho-medical centre which specialises in regional chain-healthcare such as addiction care, forensic care, care for psychotic disturbances, social care, home nursing care, psychiatric care for the elderly and other types of mental healthcare. Parnassia currently has around thirty locations in and around The Hague. There are over 3000 employees, who together treated around 43,000 patients in 2004. Since the merger, Parnassia has grown by almost 50% - and is continuing to grow - via organisational growth as well as (on-going) mergers with other healthcare institutions.
